Plans for a large, new development named ‘the movement’ are now online. The development is on the former Greenwich Industrial Estate site right next to the DLR entrance to Greenwich station, and is by the Cathedral Group. The site also faces Norman Road and the Ha’penny hatch cycle/pedestrian bridge over to Deptford and wraps itself around the back of the North Pole pub.

It will include –

181 residential units,

358 student residential units,

1,332sqm of education/office floorspace (B1/D1),

l,382sqm health club/leisure floorspace (D2), 11 incubator/start up business units totalling

635sqm, 200sqm extension to the rear of the Greenwich West Community Centre (D1),

a 360sqm nursery (Dl), 480sqm of retail foodstore floorspace (Al) and 37sqm caf?/bike shop (Al/A3).

A 104 bed 3 star hotel and a 30 room boutique hotel and associated restaurant

If it goes ahead it will also face onto the silly gyratory system if that ever sees the light of day on 2 sides (hopefully not thanks to TfL. See this post on the 853 blog) Living next to a 2/3 lane dual carriageway, and a gridlocked Norman Road won’t be nice.

The proposal will also cut a bit of time off the walk/cycle from Deptford to Greenwich as a detour around the industrial estate won’t be necessary.
